Changed The Lower unit grease and......

Well, I was putting my 1991 Evinrude 150 Intruder to bed for a long winter's nap and for the first time in 28 years of running a bass boat, I watched coffee colored grease come out. Any idea of what it's going to cost me in the spring to get it ready? I never noticed any performance problems this year, but it was like someone poured in a Frappucino in my lower unit when I went to change it. I went ahead and put new grease in for the winter, knowing I have to get this rectified before I get out. Man, I was bummed.

Its best to have it taken care of during the off season. Why wait for the mad spring rush? If I had to guess seal kit, pump kit and labor $300.00

What lube did you use the last time you changed it?

Some lubes will look coffee colored when drained and there is nothing wrong with the seals.

Best thing to do is drain it and psi check it. If it checks good you can always give me your LU, hahaha!

Rusty, I used Lubrimatic High Viscocity.

Switch to BRP Ultra HPF and no more worry. Lubrimatic comes out that way. CM
