    Auto clear coat

I know it is frowned upon and people don't like it but I have decided that I am going to reclear with auto clear coat on my top cap. I mainly need info on prepping the boat. Any help is appreciated.

I have looked at 2 other options but do not have the funds to 1. Re-gelcoat the boat ($4000) or 2. Wrap the boat. ($1495)

    Re: Auto clear coat (Yellow0121)

Auto clear will work just fine for a boat. It is all in the prep work and i have painted may may boats with auto paint that still look just as good as the day they were painted. I use ppg 2120 clear it is around $300.00 a gallon but it is the best and will out live all other clears out there.

I used auto clear on mine also. Make sure you take your time on the prep work. I used 800 grit and 1000 grit to wet sand. If you wet it when your through sanding that is close to what it will look like when done. If some thing looks questionable then re-do it before spraying. If it doesn't look right before it will look worse after. I am no expert but this was my experience.
