    Flickr vs Photobucket....

I only had a photobucket account until about 15 minutes ago.... Check out the difference in upload quality. This was my entry for last months silhouette. On my laptop the fan of the windmill was sharp. Once uploaded to photobucket some clarity was lost. I have been visiting a Canon camera forum and noticed most all were using Flickr for their hosting account. Soooo, I tried it. Wow! what a difference. I know my Face book account photo's looked better posted there vs in photobucket. Thought I would share my new finding....plus it's worth an extra 5 votes for this months entry....for which I have zip captured. The photo is directly from the camera, no processing.

Thanks for sharing that Richard. Did you ever find out a solution to the exif data problem we were having? I haven't been able to do much research yet.

BTW..... I just checked that image after using Flickr and still no exif data. I am in WI right now. When I get back home I will see if I can find a solution to this for us.

    Hi there!

I work for Photobucket, we are always monitoring our upload quality and this looks a little off. Do you mind helping us test? We'd like to take a look at the original and upload it in a controlled environment. If you are interested in helping please send the original file to support@photobucket.com, in the subject field say "Testing for Roz and Jim" and if you could put the link to this thread in the email, it will help us decipher what its for.

    Thanks!

    I'll email you the photo.

Hey guys of BBC...I'll also inquire why we cant see the EXIF data after our posting of the image.

Tom, under "your photostream" left click on a photo to make it larger. Then left mouse click on the image and check what size you want it to be, when the photo resizes right mouse click on the image and select "copy image location" then right mouse click and select "past" on the BBC thread you want the photo to appear http://farm8.staticflickr.com/...m.jpg You'll have a similar look to the photo link that I pasted above. Now you need to add [img] just before http..... then after the link ...jpg[img/] then you'll have the link to be displayed on BBC. Make sure you dont have any space before or after the [] brackets. Photobucket allows one click and paste, it's a lot easier.

    Anybody else try this?

I can't get the "copy image location" option to appear after I resize. Probably have a setting wrong but can't figure it out.

Fine, it has been 2 mintues & no help. I'll do it myself then!

Posted directly from my Flickr photostream. I figured out a different way however.

These are a few guys I regularly ride with (the 3 in the matching jerseys).

I dun told you, I don't get the whole EXIF data thing. I looked in my settings and the EXIF data is NOT hidden. So, anyone "should" be able to see that? How, I have no idea.

Alright, another 2 minute self fix here.

Put your mouse over my photo and left click, BOOM, your at my Flickr photostream (don't look at all my naked lady photos please).

You can view the EXIF info under the "actions" tab right above the photo.

Holler back at me if it works for somebody else?

I just checked and I cannot read it either using opanda. When I get caught up at work in the morning I am going to see if I can figure out what to do about this.

....Tom, stay with me on this, in my best southern drawl' ...."You" are the one that has to look at your Flickr account and see if you have your EXIF data locked so no one can view it. Go to your flicker home page. Click on "YOU" on the upper left...then select "your account" at the bottom of the pull down list, then select "privacy & permissions"...read down the list to "Hide your EXIF data"..... to the right it reads "yes" or "no".... if it reads "yes"...a little farther right you can "edit" this. It should read "no" ...meaning No you do not want to hide your EXIF data, ....IM me if I need to give you my phone number,

    Re: Flickr vs Photobucket.... (timberland)

I did it, I did it. I DO have the data checked for "no" so it is available. It seems, however, that you have to actually go to the site (Flickr) to find the data. It doesn't transfer over to the BBC.

I got Paul to double check my image. When he put his mouse over my photo the "hand" came up and he was able to go to the image and find the data. Took a couple of steps but it was there.
