    Skeg on a 2007 ProXs 225

While installing some Christmas goodies that Santa brought (Structure Scan) I notice that the thickness of the skeg @ the bullet is thinner for the first 1" - 2" and then thickens on the right side. Sort of looks like a torque tab. Is this the Verado or the torque master case?

That would, indeed, indicate a Torquemaster Gearcase (on your particular engine).

This gearcase would also have a 1-1/4" Heavy-Duty Propshaft (which utilizes the Stainless Steel Heavy-Duty Racing Prop-Hub).

Currently my steering is very good until I hit WOT. At WOT I can turn the wheel fine but it is difficult to straighten it back out without letting out of the toddle. I can raise the motor about another 1/2 inch. Will that help with the stiff situation. This Triton x2 hull likes the motor run deeper than the other hulls and it is currently 4" below pad. I assume that the torque master is better suited for this situation than the Verado.
Thanks guys for the feedback and HAPPY NEWYEAR

You can try raising the engine in 1/4" increments.... test run and record pertinent data after EACH adjustment:

    GPS Speed
    Engine RPM
    Water Pressure
    Handling Characteristics

It's acceptable to continue raising in 1/4" increments UNTIL one of the following occurs:

    -RPM's INCREASE, but speed DECREASES
-Water Pressure @ WOT drops below 18 psi
-Excessive blowout or loss of holeshot
    -Unusual or undesirable handling characteristics

If any of the above occur after an adjustment, revert the settings back down 1/4" and you should be really "close" to the optimum setting for your rig.

Note: Steering torque at WOT will lessen (and in some cases seem to completely be eliminated) when engine height and boat balance are just right. Very little trim is necessary (no more than level trim in many cases).
