    Coral Photos

I finally got the shots I wanted. or closer to perfection.

also I found a good website for anyone else looking to take some of the tank. this is geared to taking tank photos.

I set a Manual white balance on the camera by making my own Expodisk. basically I put a piece of tissue between teh tank and the lens and took an unfocused image. it was perfect grey so I used that as my white balance. all these were taken just holding the camera to the tank. No tripod. I even left the water on, so I know I can get super sharp ones with the tripod and the pumps completely off.

Awesome Shots Lindsey!!! I have messed around with my dads reef tank a little. The problem I was having was picking up all the little imperfections in the glass. If you turned off your flow they would really be crisp.

Tell em about it paul... I plan to do that next time I take photos. and use the tripod. the way my system is setup, the sump and return pump are in the garage on a different circuit while the closed loop and powerheads are inside on that circuit. makes for great redundancy, but I have to go to the garage to shut it entirely off.

    Re: (pickupman66)

I see. My dads is setup in the wall of his bar and his sump, skimmer, pump and stuff is in a little room in the corner for the water heater. It is a pretty neat setup because all you see is the tank flush in the wall. I have seen pics of you setup also. It is AWESOME!!!

I will try to get some shots of it this weekend so you can see what I am talking about. I think it is a 90 gallon with a 55 sump (I think).
