    fuel line ? agian

Alright I got the right line installed (thanks guys for the help) I cannot for the life of me get it to stop leaking it is not leaking much but any is bad news. I tried the tie wraps I guess I cannot get them tight enough. Hose clamp at the tank is fine small leak at the outside of the blub and at the pump. I saw on a previous post not to use hose clamps at the pump.

What I am I missing I mean it is a very slight drip did not notice it for a day then seen it cleaned it up next day was a small amount of fuel there again. Is there a special tie wrap I have a cheap tie wrap gun.
    thanks

You may have a bad tie wrap , i would replace with a new one or two . I put two on may splice. If ithas a small drip it may pull air in the line evently? Also i just used my hand ( but ) you could hold the line with one hand then use a pair pliers to pull the the tie end a little.

    Jim:

    Couple of questions first:

WHAT fuel line did you use (where did you obtain it- what brand is it)?

WHAT SIZE (inside diameter) line do you have between the primer bulb and engine?

What brand/part number primer bulb do you have?

Also.... when installing tie-wraps on fuel line, you REALLY NEED to utilize Mercury Part# 816311T (which is a ROUNDED HEAD sta-strap, designed SPECIFICALLY for fuel and oil lines).

    Don,

I bought it at a dealership from the mech that does all my work, unsure of the brand it was not Merc i know that much.

    5/16 from bulb to motor

The bulb was part of the kit I was sold. Beging to think it was all a waste of money

That's unfortunately the way it goes sometimes when you get into "unknown brand/quality" parts.

JMHO... but I would recommend ONLY the OEM Mercury/Quicksilver EPA approved, low-permeation line and bulb. The line is GRAY in color, with BLUE PRINT.

Never had a problem with this line, or the appropriate 13330Q07 bulb.

Many dealers keep this in BULK supply.... so you can buy "just what you need".

Re: fuel line ? agian (ghblazer)

Fuel lines should be INSPECTED at least annually for leaks or deterioration.

Replace "as needed". With today's fuels, I'd be planning to replace fuel supply lines at least once every 4 years.

That's one more reason I dump my problems on Don and get him to send me the right part. Can't go wrong, or If you do you have him to blame it on.
