    Monday on Ouachita...

I had a great Monday morning on Ouachita. Before that cold front blew thru, there were lots of fish to be caught. Saw some 56 degree water. Most fish came on a white spinnerbait in the shallows, back of creeks. I did see something I thought odd. In the cove that I was going round, fish began schooling. I finally trolled out there and caught 5 Kentuckies. They were chasing shad and hitting the surface like in August.

    See ya, HatfieldHog

We had a couple of schoolers pop up at different times Saturday in 44 degree water. Caught a couple of blacks like that.

    Re: Monday on Ouachita... (stretch)

I love fishing a spinnerbait in the early spring, 52-57 degree water, and I don't ever remember seeing schooling activity. Is this something that is unusual?

It was pretty cool. When they came up, I threw a jerkbait at them and it didn't even have time to splash before a fish choked it.

    That's awesome...

Schoolers can be tons of fun....or they can be more frustrating than fishing without a bite.
