What bass club format do you prefer?

I prefer one with $200 entry fees, 200 members. Only pays one place. Holds a tournament every week, And includes 199 members that don't know which end of the rod to hold, how to tie a lure on, or even what a lure IS.
I think I could win 30% of those.

    Seriously:
    Draw format
Team format (but wouldn't that just be a "trail" instead of a "club"?)
Entry fee (if so how much)
No entry fee (plaque, trophy, or bragging rights only...Comradary/not about the money)
    All one lake
    Split up different lakes

OR, describe your club and what you like or don't like about it. OR what you'de change to make it better.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

10 teams $1,000 entry..winning team gets $10,000..Actualy I like a draw $40 entry $10 big fish.Draw for partners at the meeting the week before the tournament.I think a club should be there to share info and techniques with its members.I would like to see clubs challenge another club to a tournament with a yearly bragging rights trophy that a club can keep until the next year challenge. The challenge tournament would pair one boat owner from one club with a non boat owner from the other club.

Discussion (not argument on my part):
I like that too Mark MUCH MUCH!!
BUT, The way I look at it. A "club" has a meeting once a month and fishes once a month, shortly after the meeting.
Wouldn't a team format negate the need for a monthly meeting? And be viewed as more of a "trail"?

My Team Club doesnt have monthly meetings. We meet twice a year to set schedule for the upcoming Spring/Winter seasons.

Re: What bass club format do you prefer? (cmclairday2)

My local club is "not about the money". And, that's all you will hear if you attempt to bring up "money" in a meeting.
YET, there is an entry fee...and payouts.
    It's a draw format.
$10 entry fee for the boater, $10 for the non-boater.
Payout on both sides is $15,$12,$10 (1st,2nd,3rd places).

It is "customary" for the non-boater to pay the boaters entry fee. And several BOATERS like to bring up..."gas expense"...Even after their entry fee was paid by their non-boater. They sort of agree last year to an unwritten rule of $10 to the boater at the end of the tx would be fair.

SO, what is "expected" out of your non-boater is $30 with an opportunity to win back Half of it.
I think that's just STUPID! SO, I said something. (imagine that....)

I about got chewed out of the room by the non-boaters. Seems ALL they can afford to FOR SURE lose is $15.

I proposed increase the entry fee to $20/per. Everybody pay their own way. No boater pay boater $10 for gas.
That way, the non-boater is STILL paying $30.

Payouts on both sides would increase to $50/$40/$30
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

Personally with the price of gas today,$10 dont buy much fuel!! The non boater is getting a bargain at that. Back in the 80's when i was in a local club we had no rules for the non boaters to help pay for fuel, and i ended up drawing a few good guys, but more duds that would stiff you and bitch about stuff. I definately like the team, instead of the draw format.

We do a team format (which I perfer), $50 dollar entry, $10 big bass, or you can pay $10 and just fish for no pot but still qualify for the "classic" fund. Fish a minimum of 10 tournaments a year, 2 2-day tournaments, and a couple 4 hour night tournaments (some years). We meet every month, first monday of the month. The tournament director and the commitee decide on the dates and lakes and they are voted as approved/denied.

Re: What bass club format do you prefer? (SkeeterDD22)

For me I like the draw style tournament. However the people going as none boaters at least around here the past year figure it's just a day fishing for them. No help backing the trailer, no help with gas, no life jackets, just there one minute gone the next. Three time the past year I've been stiffed on any gas money help. SO, I'm taking the year off from the club and not fishing. I may do a couple of the open type events but the rest is just going to be fun days, by my self. If I'm footen the whole bill, I'll go by myself!!

It would be nice to have an inexpensive draw tournament trail. I prefer the draw to keep the cheaters guessing. That being said, I don't expect any money out of folks who fish with me out of my boat. If they do offer something that is nice, but I don't expect it.

Re: What bass club format do you prefer? (ditchdiggerjcfII)

I like draw trails (as I am fishing Strens, BFLs, and MBOA this year) but when it comes to bass clubs, I like know my partner. I know his strengths and he knows mine. I know what to expect with every tournament $$$$ wise. Depending on the entry and amount of practice will depend on what we split/pay/etc...

Not sure if I would like the draw format for our club.

Re: What bass club format do you prefer? (wildkat7)

OUr format is draw and I like that. Lets me fish with more people to learn from.
    Entry is $10 with payouts for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places

    $17 for 1st
    $15 for 2nd
    $12 for 3rd
    $12 for 4th
We fish lakes and the river in the central part of the state the tournament selection picks them 4 months at a time
Big bass pay out for regular tournaments depends on the number of boats and is around $30
Points are awarded by starting with 40 for 1st and dropping 1 point for each place after that.
If you fish and zero then you get 10 points for fishing.
The meeting after the Yealy dues are $60. Also have pots for big fish of the year and big stringer of the year that are $10 each. Those prizes are awarded at the yearly banquet, along with AOY and the announcement of the top 10 that get to fish the classic that pays $250 for 1st, $125 for 2nd, $75 for 3rd, and $50 for 4th. Big bass for the classic pays $50

To me this is a good way to get tournament experience for fishing bigger trails.
