    Re: All Star rods (turkdaddy)

Once upon a time in a water far far away (Coalpile to be exact), there was a tournament held.
Anglers came from great distances to fish, bullchit, and make up whoppers. BUT, mostly to get a glimpse of "THE GRAPE ONE" (that's just thunder again...to be expected).
I fished out of a the back of another anglers boat (to even the odds of course).

We launched amidst a furry of high revving, 2-stroke burning, notnitromethane powered, upper-end, high horsepower outboards...AND MOSQUITOS.

Upon arrival to our destination (coal pile) we discovered we had the place to ourselves. (every other boat headed to Merrisach where the fish were and slaughtered em). BUT, my guide was "on the fish".
He dropped the tm, grabbed his All Star, and began picking apart the cypress knees with a beetle spin. (do ya put "no schit" in parentheses or quotation marks?)

Couple hours and no fish later, we settle down and he tells me the story of his ALL STAR rods. He has several, and not the "new" ones. He has the old "good" ones.
His favorite of which, he was using at the time, was the ONLY 6'7" All Star in existence. It was perfect. Custom, One of a kind, Special.
He'd broken the tip off of it about 10yrs back, when it was a 7' rod, and upon repair, it ended up a 6'7" beast of a beauty.

It had to been less than five casts later. He was in a cypress tree trying to free a lure and SNAP. ((("no schit"))).

    I couldn't help it.
    "Don't worry, I sure don't know anobody that has a 6'3" All-Star".
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

I do not know which is funnier the breaking of the rod or throwing a beetl spin in coal pile.

I remember hearing about that story when you were telling about breaking your rod setting the hook with a crankbait, Gayle.
