Any comment about this numbers from Turmax ?
// MERCURY OPTIMAX 250XS
On request of some racing teams we developed the file for Mercury 250 XS with the very good results.
By raising RPM quantity only in RPM limiter TURMAX has tested the Mercury 250XS engine on the engine test system and has recorded 252Hp at 6400 original RPM and 236Hp at 6700 RPM.
By re-programming the original ECU (Spark, fuel and RPM) without operating on the engine, TURMAX has succeeded in getting 266Hp!
The highest increase (+30Hp) was obtained at 6550 RPM.
Smart Craft and the connection with Mercury tester diagnosis remain unchanged and the overlap (over RPM) is not signalled!!

While I havent' seen it, the results you give are well above the power peak. So they very well could be getting those gains at those RPMs, but max HP is at lower RPMs, making the gains at the above RPMs useless. To prop it to run that many RPMs, you will lose speed. (Looks like a case fo doublespeak to me)
Yes ! thats the info they get , what i realy want to see is some prop hp from same engine at the power peak.... if i gona give them my money, i whant to se some real numbers........
I have tryed a firm here in sweden , working with Turmax stuff show som real numbers , but we haven't see nothing yet...
ps. hope u understand my bad english

TWO factors have to be taken into account (not JUST horsepower):
-Horsepower Output (propshaft.... numbers at the crankshaft are nearly useless)
-TORQUE
Once both are graphed, you can look at the RPM where torque AND horsepower peak, just before either begin to fall off. In a "perfect world setup" (no such thing exists, but you can get pretty close).... you want to hit THIS SPECIFIC RPM, with the lowest possible prop slip.
That should give you your "best" speed.![]()

Peter:
I can't really answer your question without seeing a PROPSHAFT numbers listing on their results.
If the results are still "peaking" horsepower and torque at 6050 or below..... that's where you'll want to be propped at, regardless.![]()
