Any experiences good/bad?
Any experiences good/bad?
Good = Easier to drive over 90
Bad = More vibration at idle
I had a yamaha that started out with rubber mounts and I switched them to solids.
Speeds under 80 you will not see a difference.

Would need your serial number to confirm.... but your engine likely ALREADY HAS solid engine mounts.![]()

Well thats the thing the motor came off of a 25" mid and we put it on a 20" mid and i'm pretty sure they are rubber mounts on the 20" mid.... i notice when i floor it there is alot of torque steer and by the time i hit 80 the steering wheel has been turned almost one full turn to the right and i'm running straight,,,,, it is hydraulic steering and also have a torque tab on my skeg Done by Bob's machine shop and nose cone....
Sounds like you have a problem. Just going from rubber mounts to solids is not going to help unless you have a broken mount would be my guess.
I STRONGLY agree that you have a problem.... and need to get this checked by someone VERY knowledgeable on BOTH your engine and HYDRAULIC STEERING.
I would urge you to get this addressed BEFORE operating the boat/engine again, as it should be considered a <u>critical safety item</u>.![]()

Thanks guys, I'm thinking that mid section we got came with wore out motor mounts (it was used) and i've probably broken one or two since.
Steering is good just replaced all seals and end caps had a slight leak and i mean slight leak on the passenger side(noticed it one day cleaning the boat,, little wet under the end cap,,, going to check the bottom mounts first and see what the look like. But thanks again guys![]()
You know the more I think about it, it sounds more and more like air or low hydrolic fluid in the steering system.
Hope you find the problem and get it fix!
Be safe!!!
I've experienced more vibration when you trim all the down/in.

Be safe!!!</td></tr></table> Yeah we bled the lines after the rebuild fresh fluid and still to the top of the reservoir on the helm after 3 months no leaks and we turned the wheel in each direction that was bleeding about 10-15 rotations,,, almost ran a whole bottle of fluid through the steering system.
Could the weight not being balanced in the boat do it and I'm only noticing it when it really starts building speed?

I don't think that balance would have that much of an effect. A balanced boat will drive better and run faster.
It is a dangerous rig to have on the water at speed..
Please be careful!!

I also doubt it's a balance problem.
You can "roughly" check the steering by trimming the engine level (while on the trailer). At the back of the engine, try to "rack" the engine left and right by placing your knee against the anti-ventilation plate (above prop) and hands on the cowling. Try to move the engine left to right.... there should be VERY LITTLE (or preferably almost NO) movement left to right.
If there's movement there... look at the steering cylinder and it's attachments (and of course, the swivel bracket and engine mounts) to see where the play is at.
This isn't something to play games with.... operating any high-performance engine/hull combination that has problems in the steering, mounts or engine attachment devices can be VERY dangerous!
