    Baking Noodles

Probably belongs in another forum, but, I like this forum.
    Want your noodle baked today?
Here goes, and theres no way to make this long story short.
Couple years ago at Chicot, I lost a trim cylinder on my 150 V-max. Got the boat home before anybody figured out that I pulled a light pole over at the ramp trying to get the transom saver in place.
Once home, I began my search for a used tilt/trim unit. Found Yamaha units on ebay for $700+. Saw that Evinrude units were $75+. Began comparing photo's and they sort-of looked JUST ALIKE. Figured for $75, If it didn't work, I could always re-sell a Rude unit.
Once it got here, All I had to do was grind down "narrower" the upper bushing hole on the center tilt rod. (upper mounting point).
That Evinrude tilt unit has been on that Yamaha 150 for two years now and never a problem. (it was the same as Yamaha).
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

    Re: Baking Noodles (SkeeterDD22)

About a year ago, I bought a wrecked Ranger with a 250hpdi. Hit on the trailer. Vehicle hit the boat from behind, broke and bent all the motor "brackets" and ripped the transom off the boat.
I sold the boat and kept the motor for "parts".
Took it all apart yesterday and installed the powerhead on my boat.
I THOUGHT, I'd not have to change the powerhead. Thought I could just use the whole motor and switch a few brackets with my blown motor, but, the more parts I took off, the more Broken and Bent parts I found. (so, I just changed the powerhead...more-or-less).

Got to looking at an old Evinrude Exhaust Can that I had this morning. Still has the brackets on it. After lots of comparing, I just put all the Evinrude Brackets and an Evinrude Tilt/Trim Unit on that Yamaha HPDI. And to compare the brackets side by side, they really look nothing alike. Evinrudes look much "beefier".
But, It's now back together and working great (aside from no powerhead).
04 Yamaha 250HPDI with 96 Evinrude 225 mounting brackets and tilt/trim unit...(and Evinrude model/serial number tag still on it )

I ain't no dabm boat mekanik!
Boat Mechanics get $100/hr and oem retail +20% for parts ALL three times that you take your boat in with the same problem.
Each time your boat is "next in line" while your not fishing for a month or so.

Boat Motor: It's just an engine and it's not gonna fall out of the sky if it stops running.

    COOL!!!
I no longer need a Transom Saver, Motor Toter, or My-Wedge.
Evinrude's got it's own built into the bracket.

Sounds like McGyver is alive and well in Lamar Arkansas. When he's not restoring muscle cars - he's putting together uni-motors. You have a Yamaha lower unit with Evinrude trim and brackets. Now if you could only graft a Merc powerhead on that rascal - you'd have a uni-motor.

I've got this adapter also. Not sure if it's aftermarket or if somebody just "made" it.
"suppossed" to be able to use this and put an evinrude lower unit on a yamaha, or vice versa. OR??? (maybe a Verado in place of a MinnKota).
I dunno, never really looked it over.
Kinda wish I still had my 5 bucks instead.........
