    Keep Steering Straight

What all products are out there to keep the motor from turning while trailering? I am using a tramsom saver also but still wants to turn a little.

Lock & Stow will replace the transom saver and stop the motor turning. If you want to retain the conventional transom saver T&H marine makes plastic clips to go over the steering rams. I am assuming you have hydraulic steering.

West marine sells them made by Detwiler for about 10 bucks. My brother made his out of PVC he cut and drilled holes for looped zip ties to remove.

The plastic clips (that fit over the steering cylinder pin) work pretty well. I'm not personally fond of them (some actually can wear at the outer dust seal on the cylinder end-cap).

The Lock-n-Stow is a good solution, if properly (and carefully) installed.

Re: Keep Steering Straight (fishin fever)

I used two short pieces of Schedule 40 PVC pipe (3/4 inch I think). Cut each one the long way a little shy of right down the middle and use the wider half to clip on each side of the steering rod. Bring the motor to straight position and measure the length required to hold it centered, then cut each piece the correct lenght. I added a portion of a PVC "T" that I cut to glue on to the pipes and drilled a hole in the T portion for a short rope which I looped around the steering cables so they can be left in the splash well when not in use.
