Problem With 2001 Smart Craft Gauge on opti 200

MY smartcraft gauge has malfunctioned and it has a bell on gas pump symbol blinking and the parameters for every thing is zeros on everything and I can't reset it or anything . Is there any diagnosis for it . I have the manual and it has been no help . I also changed the fuel filter and water sensor .

Try unplugging the unit for 24 hours. If it doesn't work after reconnecting, attempt to perform a "Master Reset" (depress both buttons until "Master Reset Completes").

If this does not work, it will be necessary to replace the unit. We occassionally see one that's "scrambled" by damage from nearby lightning strikes.

Thanks Don . I finally got the gauge to work and was able to calibrate it last night . I still have not been able to get it to do a master reset no matter how long you hold the buttons . It goes cal 1 cal 2 cal 0 and then ---- ,it will never show the letters for master reset . I also found the mercury bulletin and was able to change the fuel amount to 0 to get rid of the bell and gas symbol . I also was not able to cal the trim gauge .

    Dan:

You may have to hold the buttons when the "----" displays (until the lines disappear). Some earlier gauges were that way.....

As for your trim- have you determined FOR CERTAIN that you have a digital trim sender?

-ANALOG sender has one Brown w/white stripe wire

-DIGITAL sender has THREE wires (yellow, blue and black)....

You must have a digital sender to utilize Smartcraft Trim.

Yes it has the digital sender . It will only go to 8 on the smart craft after cal and it hits 25 way before full trailer .Removed it and turned it manually and it won't go below 7 and that is when I found water coming out of it .Will let you know results of new sender .

Also check to make sure the "tri-lobe pin" (that retains the upper crosspin for the trim ram) is intact. If it's missing or broken, it will hamper the function of the trim sender.

Yes the pin is still in and functioning . Unless it has twisted . If so how do you remove it to replace it ?

The cross-pin is "driven" out (breaking the tri-lobe pin).

When reinstalled, a new tri-lobe pin is driven into place to retain the cross-pin.

So you drive the cross pin out .Big hammer and drift ? Do you drive it to the port or starboard ?

    -Remove trim sender
-Place punch against STARBOARD side, and drive cross-pin toward the PORT side.

If the pin is intact (can't be rotated with a large screwdriver in the slot when sender is removed).... there's likely NO NEED to remove it.
