Just out of curiosity, why didn't you start building and selling them or patent them? Seems like a long time to wait before bringing it up.
Keith
Tom had an IM conversation with me a few months back and asked that I pay him royalties if I decided to patent the plates. By the way Tom ordered one from me with the step pad and loved it at the time so go figure.
Tom's version that he replaced with mine was a pc of flat diamond plate screwed down to cover a hydraulic leak or wear spot that did nothing for repositioning the plate. No one was selling anything like the plate to relocate at the time. I first introduced them to the public in 2004, but believe I had them at the first Head Turners rally in 03.
Did I invent the pad,,, well yes and no, I had seen one other Bullet back when I bought mine in 02 that had some angled pcs of aluminum to move the hot foot over, again no one was marketing anything like this at the time!! Now they are duplicated all the time along with every other pc that Bullet owners have been doing through the years. I have seen just about every thing on a Bullet before it was ever marketed.
So you were asked to pay royalties for something that you have worked hard into getting out to the public?Thats not cool, I say Lou keep up the good work, Id have one of your plates in my boat but the dealer placed the order for me
although I will have you do some work for me soon and I promise I will not ask for any royalties

Lou, In my opinion enough is enough.. Just do like so many others are. Wait for someone to put time, effort, and money into a product, buy one from them and then copy it and sell for 5 bucks less![]()

Sure wish that I could get royalties for something that I thought about years ago but never did anything about.![]()
I first posted the thread at the top of the page about Lou's plates back in July 2004.
This came up a few months ago and it appears that it's not going to go away without a little help. Have a nice day Tom but please take this someplace else.![]()
Holy cow it must be boring in the NorthEast.![]()

That was my 97' 20XDC that had the single pc. of aluminum that contoured the floor and moved the foot pedal over to the right
Everyone liked it and Lou said he was gonna modify it and make it his own.I had no problem with it and it wasn't a patent plate..
It was made by Jerry Pettifer for a friend that had the boat before me...
The guy had knee problems and wanted the pedal straight forward.
Worked great for me cause i have knee problems also.
I wish i had pics of it but i don't...Maybe i can get Mike the guy who bought my boat to take a couple..
So there,
Lou you owe no one royalties on anything.![]()

My 1992 model had a plate in the floor that moved the hotfoot to the right. It was installed by the dealer in 1992.

good job boss![]()
I'll just make one last comment on this. I made the post in July 2004 that's pinned at the top of the page re Lou's plates. In June 2008 Tom posted on that thread - "Hey Lou, I sent you an email but no go - I want a plate like the one you made for me, I want it for a friends boat. Remember it was the large one, if you still have the dimensions pls send price. Tom Tomlinson".
In late 2011 he decided that he needed to be paid royalties for the plates and now brings it to the Bullet forum.

Haha,
that's the point I was trying to make. Lou's stuff looks awesome and I'm gonna have me some of it one day soon. Only if he promises not to pay royalties to this guy. LOL
