that's waaaay off, that combo should do mid 90's loaded to fish
I have rode in and driven a 300 Ph3 HPDI and it is one stout mofovery reliable, and Yamaha backs the warranty 100%.........it has been as relaible as any motor out there IMHO

as for fuel, it's in range with the normal motor with your foot out of it..............as for speeds on a 20xd.............goodness!!!!..........HANG ON!!!! 100+ easily with a light load![]()

that's all i get get out of her,i have 250 hpdi on a 21xrd now and still 80 mph best with 1/2 tank gas light load.running a 29 t1 now and cruiseing speed better at 5000 was seeing 72-73 with a buddy stock 29 t1,i have a 29 t1 worked by mark NOW with some cup on it and 71-72 at 5000 rpm,but didn't get to play with much,I THINK I CAN GET IT TO 79-80 WITH THIS ONE.
what else could i try? Iam running it with a 12" paralift with 2" panther setback plate 14" total setback.I run her pretty light,3 batt.,with 36v. M.G. troller.
I would like to see low 80's with it stock.

a 250xs with a sportmaster won't run mid 90's loaded to fish so why would the yammy? Maybe if the yammy was a phase 3 engine but, not a stock 250 hpdi
So that means I should be mid 90's with a 300 on a 21xrd, right? Not even close. She's seen 90 stripped to the bone turning a 30txp ot4 and usually 86-88 light, 84-86ish with a partner and tx load.
You should have a been a tad higher than 80 with a 250 on a 20, but not mid 90s. These motors are reliable, but weak.

in his original post, he was asking about a HPDI with "phase kits"

ok cool.....it will have to be a phase 3 kit to get to the mid 90's
