Livewell Open/Closed valve is leaking.... HELP

I have been having trouble with my livewell check valve lately. I and open and close it, but sometimes it seems very hard to turn. Also when it is switched to closed it doesn't seal all the way and lets water in/out slowly.
I am guessing that it has some dirt and gravel stuck in there. Has anyone had this problem before? Also is there anyway to fix it without going to extremes or replacing it?

    Thanks,

that just happened to me and it seems like the reason it was hard to turn was the rubber seal was coming loose in the valve. mine free'd up, but thats because the seal was gone. I ended up having to replace it. there is nothing else I know of you can do to fix that.

where is the actual valve located? behind the livewell in front of the gas tank?

Can it be done without removing the tank?
when i replace it can i keep the existing switch and cable or does that have to be replaced too?

valve is behind livewell in front of the fuel tank. Tank will have to be pulled to get to it. You will be able to just replace the valve. I believe it just threads on.

The valve is actually down near the bottom, the handle is at the top. It has a short cable connecting them.

I also had a senko get in the valve and swell up. You wouldn't believe how fat a senko can get

Yea, had my tank out but was in a hurry to put it back in for a vacation on Dale Hollow Lake. have to take it all back out again now. Course the new transducer I installed isnt working either so has to come out anyway.

I have to spray the cable on mine once and a while when it gets tough to move. If you think there is trash in it try back flushing it with the hose in through the drain.
