    Input on new motor

Gonna get a new motor for my 93 20xd would like to get a 225 or 250xs. IT just seems like an awful heavy motor to hang on the back, it has no stress cracks and I would like to keep it that way. As I have said I'm new to this stuff so let me know what you all would do. Any input appreciated.

They didn't beef up the transoms in the Bullet until the '96 or '97 model year. Not saying that your '93 won't hold a new 225 or 250, but yours is not as "heavy duty" for lack of a better term.

get you an aluminum plate to put against the transom so the jackplate has a larger footprint on the transom of the boat.

The boat will do fine with the extra weight from what i was told when i had my 1992 20V

it will be ok as is if you have the Magnum model Rapidjack The footprint is bigger on that model. If not, get the plate.

I thought about going with the lighter 175xs but I want to go faster than that lol. I need to be able to pass the cookiecutter boats.

I know a fella who has a 20V with a 175 Pro XS. Runs 74 with 2 and a fishin load with the stock lower unit. Still faster than most cookie cutters and will be quicker
