Looking at Used boat. Quick question

    Hey everyone,
I'm looking at a ranger with a 2008 250xs. The motor has 50 hours on it and 3 years of warranty left. The dealer ran a compression check and each cylinder came back 150. Is this a good reading? I know each cylinder should be the same, but I'm unsure about the number 150. The dealership also hooked up the diagnostic computer and it came back with no problems. Should I be worrying about anything (because I am)? Just don't want to purchase a lemon. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Looking at Used boat. Quick question (senkizer)

The shop manual lists compression at 100-110 psi. The 150 is either very high or someone has a HAPPY gauge or gun decked the test. If there were heavy carbon buildup the compression would be high but the same cylinder to cylinder. I would have the compression rechecked. That said a motor that runs properly with no fault codes and 3 years of warranty should be Ok.

I have a really hard time believing the 150 psi readings.....

Thanks for the replies. I will have another mechanic do a diagnostic and compression. Thanks again.
