    Leaking Back Compartments

I have a 2007 20 XD and was wondering if anyone has encountered leaking back compartments. The water is actually coming from my livewells when they are filled. From what I can tell its coming over the top of the lids and running down into my back compartments. I would appreciate any advice on how to fix this problem......

    Thanks..

check the lid gaskets and make sure the lid is being closed tightly (may have to adjust the latch) also how full do you fill it up? the overflow will drain but you can overfill if you leave areator on manual.

    Re: Leaking Back Compartments (2500)

Actually, the only stripping around the livewll rim is the hard type black stripping you have around the all the other lids such as the rod boxes and front compartments. Does your livewill lids have another type of gasket or stripping? It seems when I am running in rough water on getting on plan is when the over flow is occuring.

    Thanks again.....

your missing the rubber portion of that gasket. Replace that and it should resolve your issue.

Mine just recently began to pull off. I removed the entire thing myself and not thinking went on my way. !st time out I filled up livewell and went on with my business. I ran across the lake and noticed water running out onto deck. Didn't think to look in the compartment. next day went to grab some tackle out of pass side compartment and found about 8" of standing water. Ruined at least 800 bucks worth of tackle.

I notice without that gasket the lids have play in them.

    Question for Hyrilla Gear!

Do I call Bullet boats for replacement gasket material or is there somewhere else to purchase the materials?

Thanks for the replies, I'll let yall know if this fixes the problem.

You can call Bullet direct and I am sure Tom will get that out to you asap.

I am also sure it can be found on the net I just have not taken the opportunity to look yet.

to add to these post also make sure that the lid has the foam backing as it can be a problem as well, I would check with Tom and also get extra for down the road. I have used Turtle Wax protectant to keep lubed and soft.

    Re: Leaking Back Compartments (2500)

Strange thing about it is that none of my compartments have the weather stripping on it.... I bought the boat new from N & C marine in Georgia. Do you think maybe it was missed at the factory? It does have the foam backing on the lids just missing the weather stripping? I just thought that Bullet didnt have the stripping around the edges.... This was my first Bullet.... And I did call Tom at Bullet and he is sending me the the weather seal kit.....

    Thanks guys...

All the compartments except the center and very rear should have had the seal.

Does it have just the black trim minuse the foam??? Look and see if it looks like there is any glue residue on the top edge of that balck trim. If it does I would say your dealer pulled it off.

Being that the bottom side of the compartment lid has foam on it I thought it would still seal good when the lid is shut. It doesn't from what I have found and ya need to have the rubber portion of the lower seal. If the compartment lid catches the seal wrong it will pull it apart oafter time.

I would like to find a one peice trim design. I have used 2 part epoxy in the past to glue the trim back on with good results. seemed to hold better in my opinion.

Have to agree with Rich, I serously doubt that would have been missed at the factory and it is a dealers job to ck the boat out before ya pick it up also!!

yes, all it has is the black ridge trim which covers the fiberglass edge... I will check to see if there is any glue residue on the trim later this afternoon when I get off work.....I know it may sound strange but this is the way I picked it up at the dealer.

We need a pic!! That is NOT correct for a NEW BULLET!!!!! Should have a hard rubber trim around the edge of the glass with a foam seal attatched to it that seals the lid when closed.

Mine leaked when it was brand new in 2000 . I pulled the gas tank & headed the the ramp . Turned out it was a sloopy job from the factory . I cant recall the fix but i did it myself . Mine only leaked when I caught a fish and took him for a ride to the weigh in

    Re: Leaking Back Compartments (Hydrilla)

I'm glad I ran across this thread! After reading it I went check my compartment seals and sure enough... I found four spots where the rubber seal was coming apart. I just finished what Hydrilla has done in the past... 2 part epoxy. Hope it works better than a NEW seal. My boat (20XRD) is not even a year old. It's an 09' but i picked it up in Sept. 08'
