    paint upgrade?

can a bullet paint scheme be upgraded/redone. looking to buy a 2000 bullet, but would like to add a two tone to it. just want to add the second color since the main color is what i was looking for. can any boat body shop just do it? or does it have to go back to bullet? recommendations?

Yes it can be done , but it ain't cheap.

I asked them about changing a strype on my boat to a different color.
My boat is black and white, and was thinkng about changing the white stripe to maybe a bright red or yellow.
just to give it a little color.

Bullets are good boats you would be happy, no matter what the color is

so you are saying a reg. auto body shop can't just add a second color to it. the boat i am looking to buy is all yellow, but want the blue upper coloring.

similar to this red/yell bullet 20cc........where the red color is just the outer lining of the boat. on the side it has red that runs across it too. this is what i may do if i get this pure yellow boat.

My last boat was painted. It can be done but to do it right and have it look good I don't think it would be worth it. Who ever painted it would probably spray the blue then want to clear the entire rig. At least down to the running surface. You may end up with some tape lines as well depending on how good the guy is. You got a lot of prep to go with it. A lot of lines that could turn out crooked. Hmmm... I may shy away from that idea...

He explained it better than I did , Guess that is why mine is still black and white.

Thoght about putting mine up for sale so that I could order a new 21 dual console XRD in the colors I want, I bought mine from a dealer,as a 'stock' boat. I like it but would add a little more color, next time.

so if anything, i can have a sign shop decal with stickers the upper lining instead of spending a bundle on an actual paint job. if i don't like the two tone with the sticker, then just pill away.. that's what i should try! i mean nice stickers and put on professionally...not with bubbles and creases. smooth lines and with metallic to give it a glow. opinions?

just thinking of this because i've seen many nice "sticker designed cars" that's mind blowing......super clean and nice!!!

The boat could be wrapped as you mention. I have seen a few. Some good and some bad. What I did notice on all is the installers really get sloppy with the blade while trimming to fit and have left razor more in the gel coat. Actually my last boat that I painted (straight out of the mold) I almost rapped because I had a sponsor lined up. Thank god it fell thru but anyway....

For a high quality wrap I was getting quotes in the $200.00 per foot range. Some less expensive but they were smaller companies and really had nothing that proved to me that they could meet my needs in design work.

Again I think they would end up wrapping the entire boat down to the run surface rather then cover the spots you do not want to see.

If it were me I would be patient and find a boat that you like the colors. That usually works out for the best. Trying to MAKE something work usually turns out to be costly and a pain in the butt.

A good paint job from start to finish is gunna cost a few grand in labor and materials

A wrap is less expensive and can be changed or removed if need be with a lot less effort.

Hope this helps and this is just based off of what I have come across myself.

wow thats dirt cheap for a wrap. We had quotes of over 4k and an avg of 3.5k for a full sponsor wrap and a matching truck wrap was 2K
