Rebuild but not running just right.

Don had my motor rebuilt. put several new sets of plugs.(NGK) well found out since the rebuild my motor will not run NGK's so i bought a set of Champions QL7CC for it and gapped to 035. Well long story short motor runs better but my holeshot just not the same as it was before the rebuild and for some reason i can only get to 5600 rpm's a WOT. any ideas as to what i might be able to adjust to get my holeshot and WOT back?

    Were your injectors cleaned?

Reeds replaced.... and if so, OEM or Aftermarket?

Have you had it checked to ensure it's reaching WOT? TPS adjustment checked?

Don the injectors were not touched and added a set of hydro-tech reeds. I havent checked the tps adjustment. what is the proper tool needed to do so? I do have a volt-ohm meter.

You'll need a TPS test harness (would need to know the configuration of your TPS harness plug to determine the correct harness).

Perhaps the easiest way to specify the correct harness is to email your serial number, along with a picture of your TPS harness (unplugged).

Why was motor rebuilt? Was the problem found of why motor had a problem; melted or scuffed pistons? as a current factory trained Merc tech and former yami and evinrude tech, I would like a little bit of hisory before and after engine rebuild. Thanks for a response, David ;so we can prevent you from rebuilding this engine again.

Still need to know the "pin configuration" of your TPS plug (or see a picture of it, unplugged).

As you probably recall...... I did suggest to you in one of your posts that fuel injector cleaning would be a VERY wise investment.

    Fador:

The correct TPS test harness for your engine is Part# 825207A1.

If you need one, contact Rhonda (in our parts department). She should have one on-hand.
