    Injector problem

I posted a while back about a issue my optimax was having idleing, I would have a slight miss at a idle. Well took it to the merc guy, went through all my electrical stuff, changed my plugs anr couldn't find the problem although when he changed my plugs he did note that when didn't look so good. so he called merc and they said to run a high dose of quickleen through it( 1 bottle per gallon of gas) well we did that and my motor ran better after the shock treatment. We figured it was carbon built up in the motor. It still didn't idle like new but it was running 10x better than it was. Well put on about 20 hours on it and noticed it was starting to miss again, took it in to the shop for a tuneup and now they found a plug that in his term looked "funky". So we are thinking clogged/ bad injector. My question is, How much does a injector cost? Can they be cleaned? If so how is it done? I will post pics of the plug when i pick the boat up tomorrow, also i'll post what cylinder it was. Thanks for the help and time, also have a great 4th of July weekend

Are you continuing to run quickleen thru the motor at the amount suggested on the bottle. I run it in every tank. I also run Marine Stabil also.

Extended period of idleing around can also cause carbon buildup.

Happy a safe 4th as well.

I have used them. The turn around for me was a couple days plus two day shipping there and two days shipping back, then you have a weekend in there and you are looking at about a 1 1/2 weeks.
They do good work but may not fix your problem. If the injector is bad then they will tell you and you will have to replace it. They will clean and adjust all 6 to with in factory specs. and the motor will run like new. I am just saying that you may still need to buy a new injector. They can not fix a broken one.

I would highly recommend them. Great service- and they'll go the extra mile to try and bring each injector into spec (they don't make money when you have to buy a new one).

You can have ALL of your injectors cleaned for about the cost of one new one....

BTW.... you SHOULD be running Quickleen in EVERY tank of fuel. I've seen great results from the following cocktail (everyday use):

1oz Quickleen to 6 Gallons Fuel
1oz Marine Stabil to 6 Gallons Fuel
1-2oz SeaFoam to 6 Gallons Fuel
