questions about alarms, sort of ?

runnning down the river today everything was cool beans , fished for a few then jetted to my next spot when I heard this ear hurting alarm go off it was constant, so I shut her down waited a few started her up same thing loud alarm did this a couple more times, so then i waited for about a half hour started her up gave her some gas and no more alarm i ran her for a good couple minutes nothing went off again. So I looked back at some post and figured out i must be over heating my question is what could be causing this, I did notice when i got her out the water they were a few little leaf pieces near my water intake if this is the prolem how do i correct it , 1989 johnson gt 150, thanks in advance

Any time I'm fishing weeds or a lot of stuff in the water and I get that kind of alarm the first thing I do is put her in reverse and give a blip to the throttle just to wash everything off and try it again! JMHO

You can't do much about leafs on the H20 only monitor your H20 gauge, you still have the VRO hooked up? If you do make sure the reservoir is full. Go with Mike says shift to reverse and goose it should knock off any junk on the LU unless it is sucked up tight to the intakes.
