Bass fishing around Belle Chasse?

I just moved to Belle Chasse and am looking for some local insight on the local bass fishing. I'm 1.2 hrs to Venice and 20 min from Bayou Segnette Park. Which would be better this time of year for half day trips w/ my 6 year old? Also are there any other ramps I should explore? Thanks.

What hard copy map and what GPS chip do you recommend for the local area?

Drive to Lafitte and launch at the bridge going into the PEN area. Fish along the grass openings and throw topwater baits and Minus 1 crankbaits early in the morning until the sun gets up and late in the afternoon until dark. The bass and red-fish are both active in the PEN early and late in the day. Welcome to Louisiana.

You've got Segnette, Delacroix, Lafitte, Venice and several other areas close by. Some great fishing to be had. In a month or so Venice is going to be the only place you'll want to go. Where do you live in Belle Chasse? I don't live in Belle Chasse. I work at Conocophillips. You have excellent fishing all around you fella. Go to Mrytle Grove Marina an go to the Pen. It's a 15 minute run. You will smoke the bass and the redfish. the area has grass over nicely. I know a lot of guys who I work with lives in Belle Chasse, Pointe La Hache, and Port Sulphur. the most of them bass fish. IM me and I drop a few names to you. I learned a lot about the area from them in the years I have been working down there.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I moved down from VA where I mostly fished the Potomac. We set up house 5 miles south of the base in Jesuit Bend. I can't wait to get out on the water once the boxes are unpacked.

What do you do at Conoco? I go there and pull tube bundles sometimes.
