    Trim Guage

    Don,
My trim guage on my MercCraft monitor is not working. I have traced the Brown & White wire from the outside inside the cowling and it appears to be connected. Then the wire runs up inside a wrap and I lose it. I assume it runs into the "brain" and then is run through the smartcraft connection. What else can I check? I have calabrated the merc monitor more than once.

Also, If I wanted to hook up the analog guage, what do I need to convert it to the analog guage.

The motor is a 2009 production year 250 Pro XS...1B763833

    Thanks for you help.

    Re: Trim Guage (Meyers)

Your engine (with the single brown/white wire trim sensor) is already rigged for an analog trim gauge (will not read trim on the MercMonitor, unless a Digital Sender is installed).

We can either get you a DIGITAL sender (to replace the analog unit), or you can connect an analog gauge at the dash.

The brown/white wire should be in the keyswitch harness (somewhere within 1-2 feet of the keyswitch). This is your "S" or Sender wire.

    Purple is "Power"
    Black is "Ground"
    Blue is "Dash Lights".

(Above color codes apply specifically to an ANALOG gauge).

    Re: Trim Guage (EuropeanAM)

    As always...Thanks Don!

I actually prefer the analog guage over the Merc Monitor as I want other items on my monitor other than the trim all the time...but I want to know where my trim is at when I want to look so the analog guage is my preference.

    Re: Trim Guage (EuropeanAM)

    Hi
My trim guage is not working for my 95 200 XRI. All the wires seem connected, but no operation. What should I look for near the engine....where should I begin? Thanks in advance

    Re: Trim Guage (bubbafisher)

Disconnect the brown with white stripe wire that comes into the cowling for the trim sensor.

With the key on, the gauge should read "down". Jumper the HARNESS side of the brown/white stripe wire TO ENGINE GROUND. The gauge should now read UP.

Results as stated: Likely a bad trim sender, OR a broken ground strap at the LOWER ENGINE MOUNT.

Results NOT as stated: Harness problem or Gauge Problem.
