    300 Pro Max

Don I am aware this motor is off base on this forum but I would like some input from your Merc expertise. Other than pitting issues on the steel drive shafts does this motor have any other major concerns I should be on the lookout for? It's a late 98 model. 500 hrs. or so. I have not done a leakdown test on it. Compression check was close to factory specs. I have run Amsoil H-P Injector in it for 6 Yrs. and the usual maint. religously. Thanks

    Other than driveshaft pitting....

Regular maintenance is the key. Inspect all oil and fuel lines regularly.... anything brittle, hard, or showing signs of deterioration should be replaced.

A leakdown test would certainly give you an accurate measure of the engine's "combustion chamber health".
