gill nets

I thought they were illegal, but I guess not since they are everywhere. Is there a season for them?

I think they are still legal for mullets. Not Billy Ray Cyrus mullets, the fish.

As long as they are big enough and you have a license for them they are legal to keep anything but game fish.

Wonder if the bass and sac a lait were told not to go into the gill nets. Doesn't matter if they don't keep them if they are dead. Saw a few floating Sunday.

I thought they had to stay with the nets.

No the nets have to have tags on them with owner ID and info

They are also not allowed to extend across a canal, bayou or runout.

But this rarely enforced unless you call the La. Dept of Wildlife & Fisheries with a complaint.
