Today, went out in 56`degree weather, boat warmed up to 120` on the smartcraft. My ? is at 4500 RPMs the temp was about 114 continuous. Is this normal under these conditions. After I stopped for about 1 hour I had to let it warm up again to 120 degrees before getting on plain again. 225 Pro XS. Boat motor have served me well from 2006 until now. came on my boat when it was new.
In colder water conditions, this would be considered NORMAL.
At idle speed, engine temperature and water flow are controlled by the THERMOSTATS.
Once you accelerate and water pressure increases, the POPPET VALVE controls water flow and pressure (essentially providing "wide open flow" of coolant (without thermostatic control).
When you return to idle speed.... the thermostats again take over, controlling engine temp.

I red so much about thermostat's sticking , Iam just a little concerned. Thanks and this 225 ProXS so far has been bullet proof.
