Optima, have 2 of them and I have really neglected them (not charging after use) leaving them in direct sunlight etc and they both take a full charge to 0 on the battery charger. I never had any other troll motor battery do this well.

    Re: Battery Question (JOHN202)

All of the above mentioned are the ones I'd recommend. The Optima's will save some weight as well. Also, the sears diehard marine platinums are made by odyssey. Same battery, $100 cheaper with 1 year less warranty than the odyssey, but still 3 years free replacement. FWIW, I have a Odyssey cranker and 2 Optima D31M trollers (24 volt troller).

The weight of the Optimas would be the reason i would want them.

I think its only about 10 pnds difference between the Optimas and a normal battery the same amps ( Im not sure , I did look that up about a year ago though ) !!!!!!

The Optima D31M is 60# and most other size 31 batteries are 70-75#. The one asking was asking for a 36V system, so that would be 30-45# savings with 3 batts. If speed aint a concern, then who cares, but if you run a performance hull and every MPH counts, 30-45# is worth a few MPH.

    Re: Battery Question (bigdog70810)

One thing no one mentioned was reserve capacity if you running 2 or 3 gps's and your livewells plus all other electrical on one battery then the sears platinum 31's are the way to go. Not saying the optimas wont work just the reserve and cca are not even close to the platinums. Also something to look at is sears has a 3 year free replacement. I have over the years run all types of batteries including the optimas and the trojan batteries were the best till i put 4 31m' SEARS PLATINUMS in and it looks like you can't kill them. Batteries used to not bother me much but several tournaments in the past have left my boat stranded on tournament day and believe me its no fun after a long day and go to crank the big motor and all you get is TIC TIC TIC TIC.

    Re: Battery Question (hookem175)

THE SEARS PLATIUM ARE MADE BY ODYSSEY. Yes they are pricey and are heavy but very well worth the money. I used them all season and didn't have a problem. Cranking battery ran 2 10" hds screens livewells and all other acc. with no trouble
