The new Ultra HPF (green formula) gear lube

(The new Ultra HPF (green formula) gear lube does not need to be changed for 3 years or 300 hours.)

I know this is recommended for the New E-Tech engines but, can I safely extend my twenty year old baby's lower unit oil change this long, of course I am using the new Ultra HPF (green formula) gear lube.

PS. I am afraid of moister in in the oil over the winter. <help>

    Regards.

I think it would extend the life of the internal components of your gear case, I would check my gear case for water even if it was an E-Tec, that's just good maintenance.

By the way, you have a message from me on your answering machine.

I have been using the green stuff since I woke my baby up after its long siesta.
Before the siesta 1985-88, I use to fish a lot, run like a bat of haities "WOFT" from point to point on the river. I never let the engine idle around at all.
Now after the siesta I use the boat for crabbing 99 and 44/100% of the time.
Most importantly, running 30 crab traps, this causes me to shift in and our of gear, some time into reverse to reach the crab pots thirty times a run. We, (Peetie-pie and me) make a run on our traps ever fifteen min, shifting in and out of gear or into reverse for over four hours sometimes. In my opinion that is a lot of shifting for a twenty year old engine. My prop nut is only finger tight and mostly left that way so it will never freeze on the shaft because of the back and forth movement during shifting and everything looks brand new.

    DFG,
Should be no problem bumping in and out of gear as long as your shifts are crisp an precise. No dragging the shifter in to a gear that will wear out the teeth in a heartbeat. As long as the RPM's are in spec the shift rod height etc are in spec you should be able to snap it into gear no problem all day long. I need some crabS!!! The eating kind not the scratching kind! !!

You will have no problem going over to the new Ultra HPF. If your looking for the best oil to use you want to use the HPF Pro gearlube by BRP. We run it in all or V-6 ETEC's as well as our commerical guys. It will lower the temp of the gearcase by 23 to 29 degree's. Dont get me wrong the Ultra HPF by BRP is great stuff but its not as good as there HPF Pro.
