    Don, 01 250 xb

2.5 or 3.0 and what can you tell me about them other than they like to move the fuel gage.

    And replied.

As you know, passes everything but the fuel pump.

Think i know what your answer will be but i'm going to ask. This motor is still on the oil pump, I believe i would feel better if i take it off and pre mix. My fuel tank is already mix 40-1/premium/w/seafoam for the promax. What would you do?

I would retain the oil injection system. Inspect the lines- make sure they're not brittle or cracked.... feed it good oil and RUN IT.

Well, i didn't know what your answer would be . I'll take it to my local mechanic and let him pull it and check the gears.

    Surprised you there.... didn't I!

In general, as long as the engine will be run within it's DESIGNED RPM RANGE (you're not attempting to exceed the maximum RPM Rating recommended by the manufacturer), I recommend RETAINING the oil injection system.

Overall (and yes, I've seen my fair share of the good, the bad, and the ugly).... the failure rates I've seen on "Properly Maintained, Oil Injected Models" are SUBSTANTIALLY lower than pre-mixed, when run within the recommended RPM range.

Yes, there is always the POTENTIAL for a failure of the oil injection system.... but in Premix applications, there is also the "human factor" to consider (and the "human factor" doesn't provide any failsafes or warnings as a second-chance to correct the problem).
