    Need some help

I am trying to remove my flywheel (2005 250 XS). I removed the nut and put a wheel puller on and have been trying to get the fly wheel off. I have turn the puller so hard, I am now worried about braking the bolts.

    Any suggestions?

Don't want to joke with you right now, and I'm sure Don or Red will help you out on this but I wonder "why" your fly wheel might be coming off

</TD></TR></TABLE> You are using the "mercury" flywheel removal tool correct? I wouldnt dare try using a balancer puller or something else--use the one that threads into it!

It is best to use a Mercury remover tool. BUT if you don't have one tighten the puller the best you can and give the flywheel a tap with a hammer as close to the center of the flywheel as you can. It is a coned seat with a flywheel key type flywheel. I personally have done this before I bought the right tool for the job.

    Purple flywheel painter:

Just the correct MERCURY flywheel puller. DO NOT use a balancer puller- trust me, it can BREAK or damage the flywheel!

We can get you one.... there are some aftermarket ones available that double as a lifting eye.... and there are even a few members on here from time-to-time that will "loan" you one (if you ship it back to them).

Don't forget to remove the air compressor pulley (and use RED LOCTITE when you reinstall it).
