    250 XS WHAT OCTANE?

I have a 2003 250 xs. The merc web site states 87 octane. Yet I am reading here that 91 is the min. ???? which is it?

For an 2003 it's 91 MINIMUM!!! the 87 is relevant to motors that are 2006 and latter latter

Never saw the big deal with premium gas. Premium costs about .20 more a gallon. I probably burn about 400 gal a year so thats $80 more. Not a big deal when you compare it to all the other cost, like just the gas itself. In fact it is down right cheap IMHO. Enjoy your motor and run it like it was built to run.

If your old motor was an EFI and was close to the same HP as this one your new motor here bing a DFI will get a LOT better MPG than the old

the old motor was a 1998 115 faststrike johnson. It would push my 98 stratos 273dc 60mph. Can't wait to take this baby out. Yes the premium is only .20 more, I never added it up and thought about a years use. is kind of cheap when I think about it.

Compared to the fuel consumption on that old Johnson, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised (despite the High Test fuel requirement).

if you go from a 115 to a 250, it will be like go from a Fiat 600 to a Ferrari
