    Tubes (ears)

My daughter has to go to the ENT today. She has been fighting ear infections for about two months now. They will probably put tubes in her ears. Has anyone's kids had tubes. If so was it good or bad. Thanks in advance for your input.

    Re: Tubes (SUSHII)

My kids never had to have them, but i got several family members that have. You little girl will be fine once they get done. It seems to be pretty common these days and i bet if you were to ask some of the guys at work, they would tell you their kids has had them as well.

Let us know how it goes...

Both of mine had them when little.. It was about a 4 hour start to finish deal, and they took their adnoids (sp) as well. Dr Warshaw in Alexandria did them, and he was very good. The recovery time was about a day and a hafe, and then they were back to normal.

    Re: Tubes (SwatDawg)

My oldest son had to get them when he was 5yrs old. Simple procedure and worth it. You will see results shortly after the surgery. A lot of the problems that kids have from ear infections is from allergies that most of us suffer from. One thing to be careful of and the doctor may tell you is try to keep water out of their ears. My son had ear plugs that we got from the doctor when he went swimming. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have a couple of friends who had to get tubes put in their kids' ears and most of the time its amazing how much better the kids felt. Even the youngest ones it was like they were immediately in a MUCH better mood and happier after the tubes were in! Good luck and I hope it all goes well!

Both my grandkids kids had them too. Get the fitted ear plugs if you plan on letting her swim.

I hadem when i was young and i can hear a stick break from over 100yrds away in the woods! Had ear aches that would make a grown man cry when i was young then after the tubes ive been good for as long as i can remember, Just make sure you put the plugs in ears before takin a bath or swimming, they can get infected very easy.

    Re: Tubes (SUSHII)

Get the tubes as soon as possible. 30 yrs. ago , my son almost lost his hearing due to ear infections. At that time, pe tubes was a new procedure. Both of my kids got them and now 3 of my greandkids have them. One thing you need to remember is that their hearing will be greatly enhanced, so you have to watch for loud noise around them. The little ones come to the house to swim, wife uses ear wax you can get at any drug store to keep the ears dry . Good luck

After hearing y'alls story and talking with the dr I can't wait to get it done. Thanks again for the input

    Re: Tubes (SUSHII)

My daughter had them put in when she was 2, when they let us go back after surgery to check on her she was screaming, crying, like a mad child. They told us it was the anastesia(medicine), they say all kids react a lil different. She cried for about a hour on they way home, she fell asleep
for about 3 hours that evening, woke up and was running arounnd and playing like nothing ever happened. So I would say it was very worth it, cut the doctor trips in half!!
