    2002 250 Pro XB

I am looking at buying a boat with a 2002 Mercury 250 Pro XB. They guy had the compression checked and it came back that one cylinder was at 115, four were at 120, and the last one was at 125. I am not real familiar with compression checks, but does this seem like its pretty solid?

Also what kind of gas would I need to run with this engine? I have searched on this and am seeing mixed reviews of what the fuel grade requirements are.

Your help is much appreciated, and Happy FRIDAY!!!

    Thanks,

    Josh

Those compression readings are "within specification". Keep in mind, however, that it sounds like you are accepting "someone else's word" for what the actual compression is.

I personally prefer to do them myself, or have someone that I trust (that I hired) do the compression test for me (again, that's my personal preference).

You would need to run HIGH TEST (91+ Octane Minimum) in this engine.
