buddy of mine has his new 225 ho e-tec with less than 10 hours and was idlind through no wake zone th other day and overheat alarm goes off, shuts it down and restarts goes another 10 yards , alarm again , finally restarted , put in rev and goosed it and back to forward , once out of no wake zone , got on it no more alarms. thought this was gone over before , can you remember???
Have him see his dealer, there is a service bulletin about thermostat housing passageways that might not have been drilled completely through on certain serial numbered V6 motors.
Of course there is always the possibility of mud, debris, weeds, or ice bags causing the overheats at the time.

Yo Todd, tell your "buddy" if he would put down his weed-eater and use the boat more than 4 times in 5 months it would probably keep the cobwebs out of the water passages on that Etec....
and take the beating from the head of the household.........
he'll never do it......
