How much front to back movement if any should the prop shafts have on my 2005 250XSs?
Not sure how to properly measure but I would call it about 1/8" of movement front to back.![]()

This can be "technically measured" utilizing a dial indicator, and appropriate clamp device to hold it.
Approximately 1/8" is acceptable. Excessive "end play" in the prop shaft is a sign of:
-Improperly seated or torqued bearing carrier (or a worn bearing carrier)
-Worn or damaged thrust washers on the reverse gear or propshaft
-Worn or damaged bearings at the forward gear
(A few other possibilities also exist).![]()
