Need help on what lakes to fish on Louisiana

Planning a fishing trip this spring or fall, what three lakes would you recommend fishing?? Driving from Missouri, we are planning on fishing a different lake each day.
    Thanks.

How about Fork, Rayburn, and T-Bend. You could do worse. TBJ

My advice would be go to Venice, Houma or Lake Charles. Get a taste of what Louisiana is all about. There are more creatures to see along the coast and the food would probably be better. There is nothing wrong with Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn, but there are timber filled resivoirs all over the country. I go on vacations to do things I can't do at home.

No expert on the TBend, Rayburn and Fork drive times as I have never been to Fork. But from the Bend to Rayburn is not but about an hour's drive. If I had to guess on the Fork drive I would think maybe a couple of hours from Rayburn. Some of these guys that have fished Fork will tell you for sure.

Louisiana has a lot of good lakes that are kind of out of the way. Fishing the Red River wouldn't be but an hour or so drive from Toledo Bend (depending on what part of it you fish). The Shreveport area has several good places to fish including Caddo, Red River, Toledo Bend, Black Bayou (actually 2 Black Bayous), Bistineau (beautiful cypress studded lake), and others. You could stay in Shreveport and be to anyone of these lakes in an hour or less. For more info on other lakes around there, contact Badazztriton on this board and he can clue you in. Hope you enjoy your visit down here.

Fork,Bend, Rayburn or Lake bruin, St john, Concordia or if you want south La. get a room around down south hit Bayou Black, Venice , and Delacroix. You make lik the lakes but I'll take the final option.

You could fish T-Bend or Rayburn for several days and not see the same water twice. If you decide to fish these two lakes, get a Texas fishing license so you can hit both lakes w/ one fishing license, and save a few $$ for gas.

You may also consider Caddo. It's right on the La/Tx border, and close to Fork. It is a beautiful cypress tree covered lake, and it can be awesome in the spring (especially if you like pitching a jig on trees).

Go to Venice where you can catch bass, redfish, and specs in the same canal using the same bait.

What he said, this is a no brainer. Do it in Oct or Nov and you will get tired of catching fish

I know there are some nice places on Caddo Lake (I think an hour out of Shreveport)-just google Caddo Lake. Lake Bistineau has a state park with cabins just out of Shreveport. Red River Marina South (where the Classic is going out of has cabins as does Clarks Red River Marina-they have a website). If you want to stay in town, I can't really say how any of the motels are as far as security and boat accomodations. Of the places listed above-Red River South I believe would be the closest to Bossier/Shreveport and is the newest. I am guessing it would be no more than 10-15 minutes from South Bossier. Send Aaron (Badazztriton) an IM since he lives there and would be able to give you better specifics than this.

Re: Need help on what lakes to fish on Louisiana (preacher ed)

Bee 2100 As far as Fork, Rayburn, Toledo Bend most all cabins and motels are setup to accomodate the fisherman, outside elect. hookups, boat houses, some covered some not, fish cleaning stations etc. By the way Robert was right if you buy a Texas lic. you can fish Fork, Rayburn, T-Bend, Caddo and a ton of east Texas lakes. caddo is managable for navigation, just don't put that boat on plane unless you are in a boat row which are all marked. make sure you get yourself a good map or use your gps cause you could get lost in some of those swampy area.
