    Merc monitor Level 1 ?

Will this gauge monitor and display the 2 stroke oil level in the reservoir in the bilge ? The previous owner never kept it clean. I need to clean it up. You can't tell by looking what the oil level is. It is irritating. My other boat I've had for nine years and the oil tank looks like brand new and the level is easily visible.

Yes, it will if you have a Smartcraft capable engine and add the fuel and oil level wiring harness.

Correct. With a Level-1 MercMonitor, you can add the Fuel/Oil Harness, AND a remote oil tank sensor. This would allow you to monitor the FLUID LEVEL in the remote oil tank (on the FACE of the MercMonitor).

A Level-2 MercMonitor would do all of the above, AND allow you to export that tank level out to a NMEA-2000 compatible GPS Device for display.

I recommend the level 2 for the reason Don stated. I purchased the level 2 Mercmonitor from Don and also installed the fuel/oil harness and a sender for my oil tank. It works great and I have option to display the level information in my console or bow mounted NEMA 2000 connected devices. If you haven't already purchased the unit, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing at European Marine because you will not get better customer service and technical support anywhere. This is not a paid commercial, its real.

+1. I agree completely. My MM L2 was easy to install with Don's help!

OK, thanks. I will go check this morning. I don't have an owners manual for this gauge so I have been fumbling with it. Is there a place online where I can download/print a manual for this gauge? I don't remember seeing this option on the internet pages I was looking at. Is the remote oil sensor fairly obvious with a visible check ? Reason I ask is I seem to remember some fuel options on the gauge but don't remember seeing anything for the oil tank.

    Try this manual: http://www.mercurymarine.com/media/m...ners_Guide.pdf

Remote oil sensor is easily identified by looking at the remote oil tank. There are two CAPS on the tank- one has hoses attached.

If there are TWO WIRES going to this cap- you likely have the remote oil tank sensor setup.

Well I went out there for a look see and no I don't have a wiring harness or sending unit hooked to it. The cap with the two hoses looks to have a port maybe for this feature but it's not there. I can call Rhonda for pricing but what's more important for me now is how much trouble is it to install ? Can I do it? I've installed plenty of console and bow mount graphs and chartplotters if that makes any difference. I just didn't know if this was something I could do or if I have to take it in. I absolutely hate to take the boat in even though I did finally find a guy locally I can trust.

Installation of the Fuel/Oil Harness and/or Remote oil tank sensor is NOT that difficult- many of our customers that purchase MercMonitors also purchase (and install) these two items as well.

Rhonda will be more than happy to set you up with the necessary components, and if you need assistance with the connections/install, I'll be glad to walk you through it.

Simple install. Change out the existing pickup with the new sensor/pickup assy, connect the wiring harness, and you're done. Did mine a couple years ago and it was that easy. Nice to have remote oil tank monitoring at the helm.
