The Natchez-based River City Bass Club fished the last event of its fishing year August 23, 2008 on a high Lake Bruin near St. Joseph. Twelve members and a guest left at safe daylight to weigh at 3p.m. The water started at 86 and climbed to 89 degrees as the air ran to 93.
Winner Gary Waller weighed a 5 bass limit for 9.13 pounds and the 2.76 lunker. Second place Doug Jordan had a 7.49 limit on a tough day. Others with bass were David Cooper (3 for 5.44), Britt Orth (2 for 3.43), Corky Ables (2 for 2.22), Jimmy June (1 for 1.34) and Carrol Huff (1 for 1.01).
Jerry Blanchard, Jimmy Hodges, Larry Roark, Bo Strahan, Ryan Marchbanks and guest Michael Neal also fished.
