Doesn't sound normal to meI am running the 60hp and it sounds just fine.
I would get it checked ASAP if it sounded like a bag-o-bolts.
IF you get air in the fuel lines or a restriction in the plumbing system, the injector will not get a full charge of liquid fuel and will make a hellacious clank or thunking sound each time it fires. You will think that the motor is coming apart.
Use a clear piece of fuel line and a vacuum gauge as explained in the service manual to see any bubbles or restrictions in the fuel system.
Has a spin on filter been changed recently or anything done to the boat before this happened?

With a new E-Tec I would be checking my dealers oil about now!
With a new E-tec making a racket I'd be at my dealers door about now! CM![]()
it is programed for xd-100 it has about 5hrs on the motor it could be the injectors they put a after market gas tank in the boat, 5 gallon with the little inline grey ball.

AHHHH CHIT!!! Did someone put an off brand pump ball on dat purty new mota???? Make sure they put nuthin' but Bomb parts on that thing! The guru's will tell ya more than I can!
WELL THAT LITTLE GREY PUMP BOLB DOES'NT SAY BRP! is this bad or is it the reason for the injectors clacken and carring on like the do or is it that little clamp they put on the vapor seperator top hose for shipping? when i get home i'll see if it is still on there

The primer bulb might not have BRP on it even if it is a BRP bulb.
Let us know if the clip is still on the vapor separator hose.![]()
Many times aftermarket fuel line assemblies cause problems, mostly fuel leaks but often air leaks and/or restrctions to flow. The primer balls sometimes only have 1 set of check valves in them. The plastic fuel connector fitting will leak fuel or air and cause all kinds of problems because most of the time they do not fit securely.
The red aftermarket gas tanks like Atwood, etc. have plastic threads that are cast, not tapped, and the Tempo brass fuel fitting adapters for J-E motors that are screwed into those cast threads usually leak and do not retain the fuel connector firmly, also causing air bubbles in the fuel.
Your best bet is to use a genuine Bombardier J-E hose assembly and a factory tank. They cost a bit more than the "el cheapos" but they do the job and come with a good warranty.

checked for clip last night and it is not there. i was hoping it was! i called the dealer and they told me to just run it and dont worry about itbut i fill it is what you guys have said air in the fuel or maybe the vapor seperator is bad or cant keep up with the amount of air created by the air leaks in the fuel system provided. or worst yet its not the air at all but the bad piston pin or slap, or crank rattle. dealer said they dont have time right now to look at it and i have had the motor and boat for 10 days and dont even have it registered. whats a guy to do?

Have the serial number handy and call the factory customer service line @ 847-689-7090. Tell them the whole story, including the off-brand hose and tank and the dealer's unwillingness to look at the motor.

Ok so he runs it and it doesn't blow.....yet! If something is terribly wrong how much damage is done. How long is your warrenty? dealer is to busy??? That's crazy if you ask me. Bust his chops till he looks at it.

maybe it was kent, i didnt right it down but he was really nice and he told me not to worry that i have a warrenty just run it till he has more time. i do have to drop it back off here sortly because the tiller upgrade wire harness will be in soon it will give me a key switch and a warning horn and he just wants to look at it and add the new kit at the same time thats why he dont want to look at it now i thank. he said just do your duck hunting and when you ready to loss the boat for awhile and all the parts are in we will do it all at one time he says hes just to busy to bring it in and out two times just run it!
