any of y'all coonasses ever run through marksville? Thats where i grew up and i havent been back since 2000 just wondering how the town was doing.sure do miss the people and the food cant take much more being stuck in this frozen trout hell state

I go there occasionally, to the casino. I live just outside of New Roads, which is not that far. My wife's family is from Marksville, Simmesport and Bordelonville. She goes out that way a good bit to visit. Nice place

I work for Catahoula parish Sheriff's office, Marksville is only a few miles from our parish line. We worl well with Avoyelles Parish.

I am from Simmesport originally; family still lives there. The casino is about the only fancy thing there...they have come a long way..they have a new 'indoor swamp' complete with live aligators and mist generators, cypress trees, etc, they have a pool with a swim-up bar, championship style golf course, movie theater, and a revamped entertainment center. They also have a day spa, a bar made out of ice, and a high end steak house.

Other than that, the parish hasn't changed much! Spring bayou is still full of hydrilla. Simmesport has a nice big trailer park housing a ton of Katrina Evacuees all paid for by some big dog up in Canada. They call it Canadaville. No problems with the people. They bought up a ton of farmland between Simmesport and Odenburg and are turning it into an orgainc farm rasing everything from crops to chickens to crawfish. The evacuees in Canadaville are supposed to learn how to farm....

I'm in Pineville, and done some work on the casino. That's about the only thing they have going for them, besides the semi new super walmart.

As for spring bayou, i been seeing reports on tv and film and it is choked off real bad by weeds, grass, etc. Duck boats (go devils) were have a hard time getting through. They convinced the WLF to put grass carp (11,000) in the lake. In fact the were just dumped in there this week.

Well I go to Moreuville every now and again to see some of our cropduster buddies. I Eat at the casino, still has good food. Its really about the same, hell the whole states the same other than the hurricanes. Oh yeah everyone knows the candianville residents will learn to farm, more like learn how to get " Hurt" and not have to work.

I go down there about once a month to the Red River Grill...across from
the courthouse...it is awesome...The shashimi tuna is the best (appetizer).
Its really the best food around here

Do you know Dirk Franklin that flies out of the White Castle Co-op. My wife worked with him for 10 years.
