Heading to the mined land wildlife pits this weekend!

Hey guys I have had this trip planned since January and it is finally here. I have a map of the area with ramps etc , but which pits should we fish since there are so many it would be nice to narrow it down. Also there are 5 of us going and we had one guy back out so if anyone is interested in coming along we have room for one more, the cabin sleeps 6 guys. [ we are also bringing a air mattress and possibly another cot lol] . We are leaving Friday most likely sometime before noon and coming back Sunday afternoon. It will be the first time for anyone of the guys going to fish the pits so we are pretty excited thanks.

So you're staying at a cabin. At the trout pit? If so, don't forget to get a trout 'stamp'. Have to have it if you fish that pit, even if you're not fishing for trout. That's a good bass pit. Lots of good pits between the trout pit and the KDWP office down there. Stop by the golf course on 69 if you are coming from the north and I'll fill you in on some others. Good luck.

Make sure you fish the west mineral lake and the pit just to the east of it.

41 is a big deep pit - one of the ones dug by Brutus. Excellent fishing. I'm thinking it's 4 miles east and about 4 miles north from where you will be staying. It's on the map. Good boat ramp and parking area. I would also recommend the trout pit - if you head south on the pit towards the back area where it forks, there's a nice ridge that runs there and it holds some very nice fish.

Had a great time at the pits this weekend... caught a lot of fish. The trout in the lake a just awesome to catch. I only fished with one rod for trout and caught one about every five minutes. They were fighting twice as hard as the bass and it was cool to pull them up from about 50 feet of water lol. The storms for the most part went just north of us, we got a little rain and it was one of the best lightning shows I've ever seen. For some reason the clouds seemed so close to the ground that night. The cabins are very nice and the a/c works really well, for some reason the guys I was with like the temp to be 60 inside while sleeping. I froze my ass off lol. The big fish came off a steep drop in the trout pond goes from 5ft to like 40 feet real quick. All in all it was a nice escape and hopefully I will be back later in the year or next spring to do it agian. Cabins are 70 a night so split between 5-6 guys its really affordable. The cabin had a pull out bed, two futons and bunk beds plenty of room.

Here are some pictures I posted in the lounge hope you enjoy and thanks to all who help with some information.

Glad you had a good trip. Next time you might want to consider Bone Creek. It's about 10 miles north of Pittsburg, you can catch just as many fish, and there are some toads. It's like a mini Lake Fork, grass, wood, shallow fish and deep fish.
