KU guard Mario Little arrested, suspended indefinitely from basketball team

LAWRENCE, Kansas - University of Kansas head basketball coach Bill Self has indefinitely suspended senior Mario Little after he was arrested early Thursday following an altercation involving his girlfriend and several other men.

Self said in a statement posted on the University of Kansas website Little “remains a member of our team while we work through this process,” though details of what exactly happened were not immediately available.

According to Lawrence police, Little went to an apartment in the 1200 block of Ohio Street around 2:45 a.m. Thursday to see his girlfriend, who was with another man.

Little and the other man, a 19-year-old Lawrence resident, got into a “physical altercation at that time,” Lawrence police said in a news release.

Little’s girlfriend left while the two men fought and went into a neighboring apartment. Little followed, and on his way in pushed a 22-year-old female resident, the news release said.

Police say Little found his girlfriend in an upstairs bedroom “and battered and pushed her into a sink.” He is also accused of shoving a 24-year-old man who tried to break up the fight between him and his girlfriend into a desk.

Little was booked on four counts of battery, two counts of criminal damage to property and one count of criminal trespass.

“Mario exercised very poor judgment in his handling of a situation,” Self said. “We’re disappointed in his behavior.”

In the statement, Little apologized for what happened. “I feel awful,” the Chicago native said, “and I understand that I will have to deal with the consequences of my actions. I accept responsibility for those actions, and I apologize to my teammates for being irresponsible.”

Self said it was unfortunate that the university, the program and Little’s teammates all have to deal with “this negative issue.”

Little has played in all nine of KU’s games this season, averaging 6.2 points and 16.6 minutes per game. He is the second Big 12 player to be suspended in as many days. On Wednesday, Mizzou head coach Mike Anderson indefinitely suspended starting guard Juan Dixon for an unspecified violation of team rules.

More than anything, that's it... Kids just don't get it. It's the friggin Democratic mindset that the world owes me a living and regardless of what I do I can get away with it train of thought.

You know, during a seminar recently I mentioned the opportunities that kids have today far outweigh what we (fishermen) had.

These athletes have the world by the ass and make dumb decisions that affect the rest of their lives and throw it all away. Stupid...
