Is a low water intake what I need??

I fish the Arkansas River quite a bit, and have to run in some shallow sandy areas on plane. I would like to be able to run with my jackplate about as high up as it will go, but my pressure goes to nothing. That isnt the way I use it most of the time, but I would like to be able to run that way when I need to.

See what Don has to say about water pressure and overheating.

I'm not having any overheating issues, do I need to plug the upper holes, or get a low water pickup??

Running your engine in shallow, sandy water on plane is simply asking for trouble.

Your engine is not designed for this type of operation.....

IF you intend to "try" it... you might take a look at this post first:

Keep in mind, that any damage done to your engine as a result of operating in shallow, debris laden water, may result in denial of warranty claims.

II would suggest if your going to do anything to plug the top holes as described in the pinned post up to..

A sportmaster or nosecone wouldn't run good on your rig
