    Steering Bolt & Washer Play 2008 250 Pro XS

    Quick question here. I was doing some checking of motor mount bolts and noticed a little play in the steering assembly which seems to be in the steering bolt and washers. The bolt and nut are tight but there is still play. How much is acceptable and do the washers need to be replaced periodically??

    Is this a Teleflex 5345 Cylinder?

    If there is "slop or play" at the tiller bolt (center bolt on the triangular aluminum bracket where it attaches to the tiller arm of the engine)- you will need to replace the tiller bolt, washers, and bushing.

    We have a bolt kit available with all the pieces to accomplish this (it covers the center bolt only- and NOT the front bolts or bushings (which can currently only be replaced by sending the cylinder back to Teleflex, or their authorized repair center).

    When you replace the bolt, make sure that it has the marking "TFX ARP" as is mentioned in this information from Teleflex. As is noted, the 250 XS motors all should have this bolt after the date indicated. There was a problem with shearing in certain "aggressive" instances.
