anybody doing any turkey hunting this spring?

Killed a decent one yesterday morning, let his twin brother walk that came in right next to him. Maybe would have let them both go but I had to shoot at 8 feet in self defense...love this time of year.

I had an exciting morning last Saturday. Set up in the brush next to a beanfield with my back to a creek. Heard some gobbling behind me couple hundred yards. Kept calling every few minutes when two birds sounded off right behind me. I knew they were on the other side of the creek though, so I didn't expect to get a shot at them. All of the sudden, I hear wings flapping and four toms land about 20 feet behind me. I couldn't move a muscle, but I could see them out of the corner of my eye. I saw them move off to my left out of sight in the brush and then they come out onto the field and back toward my decoys. They never did commit though, and started skirting and heading away at about 30 yards. After the last tom started turning away, I drew and took a shot. And whistled an arrow right over his back. But it was exciting enough to have those four toms come in like that.

Guess I'll have to go again.

Dennis just go out and hit some public areas. Thats all I ever used to hunt and would shoot two every year. They are a lot more challenging to hunt than the private land birds which I think makes it all the more satisfying when you kill one anyway.

my buddy and I doubled up on 2 young lovers yesterday morn. couple gobbles and a half strut: they didn't seem too hot yet?
