Very bad new for all you KU guys. KU was already looking like the worst team in the conference for next year. This just makes me smile.
Saw that on the news the last couple of days.
i don't wish anything bad on any team, or coach. he is still a very good coach
Sound to me like a team that was expected to win and has lost 5 straight games and they are looking to pin the blame on someone.

I knew he had a temper but it looks like he has some other issues. In 2007 he got 26 parking tickets in the same unloading zone. Lots of reports of abuse by alumni and parents but nothing really confirmed. I heard that there are players refusing to board the plane to Texas this weekend unless he is gone.
I think that this is a mutiny from a group of people looking to pass the blame. Good luck to Lew when it comes time to pull another coach to Lawrence. Not many big name coaches will want to relocate to Kansas and play second fiddle to Bill Self. Thank god that the KU athletics department has gobs of money to throw at them.
I think the only reason that Mangino came in the first place was due to the quick access to KU Med for his impending heart attack(s).

He's out after the season... Lew is just laying the ground work to make it solid....
Mangino has a history of outbursts but has proven himself to be a pretty good coach... But the weight thing is a hugh deal.... Let's face it, he could keel over tomorrow! Lew P. was once over 400 lbs and lost it, I think that Mangino not loosing a pound but gainingweight every year is a big negative in Lew's eyes... Plus they just don't get along.
The meeting with the players is just to lay the foundation for getting him out without the weight being an issue, being 1-5 in conference helps him also...

Gee, isn't it amazing that this stuff never came out when they were winning.
I have heard some of the things he has said and done. He is guilty of a bad temper, and saying inappropriate things, this is probably true of most coaches. Hell, my jr. high coach used to beat us down every day. I say the players need to sack up. They are football players, at a BCS school, and most of them are getting a free ride through school to play football. If they want to make it a weight issue, that's called discrimination.
Maybe these players should join the military, go through boot camp, and see how that works out for them.
