    sportmaster gear case

I just removed my 1998 225 promax sportmaster gearcase to change the impeller, and noticed that there were only 3 washers used and there is 5 nuts and 1 allen head bolt. Being this is an aluminumn piece shouldn't all the nuts and the 1 bolt have washers under them. Also when I pulled the impellar out of the cup I failed to remember what direction the fins were turning. If I remeber when installing new impellar I slide that on shaft then put cup over it, pressing down on the cup while turning the drive shaft, witch direction do you turn the shaft, clockwise or counterclockwise. Can you spray the rubber with wd-40 to make it slide in cup easier.

sorry I put this in the 3.0 forum an not the 2.5

You should have washers in all locations.

    Driveshaft turns "clockwise".

Don't use WD40 as a lubricant (or any other petroleum or solvent based product).

Liquid Dishsoap works quite nicely.... and washes away in a flood of "pretty bubbles" upon engine startup.
